Can I register my archer if we are open-enrolled at Center Point-Urbana Schools?Yes. We are not a school affiliated sports team. Therefore, we accept all children in 6th through 12th grade who are enrolled at CPU schools or are homeschooled. Please contact us if your child is a homeschooled student.

When is registration open?Registration for the year begins in September and ends October 16, 2023. Feel free to follow us on Facebook for updates.

What kind of archery equipment do archers use?Archers need to either own or rent a Genesis Original Bow; each archer will be supplied a string bow that they MUST bring to each practice. Archers that purchase their own bow are responsible for performing any needed maintenance on it and having spare arrow rests and nocks. The Stormin’ Archers own bows that archers may rent for $10; a $100 deposit is required and will only be cashed if the bow is damaged.

Does CPU Stormin' Archers offer scholarships for archers?We never want the cost of archery to prohibit anyone from trying it. If the cost of registration or bow rental is a burden, the club has registration and equipment rental scholarships available.

How early can my archer come to practice and how long can they stay afterwards?Archers can arrive 5 minutes before practice begins. They must leave the middle school immediately after their practice time.

What should my archer wear to practice?Archers MUST have long pants and closed toe shoes to practice. Archers not wearing long pants or closed toe shoes will be sent home and will not be given credit for participating in that practice.

Can my archer attend any practice?Archers MUST attend the practice times they have been assigned to.

How much does my archer need to practice?Archers must attend 50% of the practices (~2 practices/week) to be considered for the tournament teams or State/Nationals. The % is calculated over the course of the season and can be seen when the archers log in/out. If less than 50% archer can still shoot at tournaments as an individual Archer must participate in 50% of our tournaments to be eligible for State/National teams.

Can my archer have their cell phone during practice?NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES ALLOWED DURING PRACTICE – if a coach sees any archer using any electronic device, that archer will will receive 1 warning and then will be dismissed from practice without credit.

What do I need to do if my archer can't attend practice at the last minute?You may send an email to cpuarcherycoach@gmail.com letting us know they won't be attending; however you are not required to let us know.

When and where are the archery tournaments?There will be 8 Bullseye tournaments and 8 3D tournaments during the season. Tournaments are held January - February, with the State tournament in March in Des Moines and Nationals in May in Salt Lake City, Utah. The regular season tournaments are within a 2.5 hour radius, and each archer is responsible for their own transportation.

How does my archer qualify for tournaments?Archers need to attend on average of 2 practices per week to participate in tournaments and be considered for state and may attend practice up to 3 times/week. Tournament fees are included based on the option you selected on registration. To be considered for a team that participates in the state tournament, archers MUST have participated in 50% of the regular season tournaments.

Does my archer have to compete in every tournament?No. Archers can register to practice only, compete in half of the area tournaments, or all of the area tournaments. Practices are mandatory for any archers who wish to partake in tournaments. Archers are NOT required to participate in tournaments. Tournament fees are included based on the option you selected on registration. No refunds will be given if an archer cannot attend a tournament for which they registered.
